Many visitors to Grand Cayman never rent a car. It works best if you stay on or near Seven Mile Beach.
What you can do on foot
Most Seven Mile Beach resorts sit near restaurants, beach bars, shops and the sea. Camana Bay is walkable from the northern resorts.
What needs a vehicle
- The airport. See airport transfers.
- Evenings away from your resort. See dinner and event transfers.
- Attractions across the island. See attractions.
Buses
Local minibuses run along the main west-side routes. They are cheap but not built for schedules or luggage.
A plan that works
Pre-book arrival and departure, walk and swim on most days, and hire a driver or tour for one or two bigger days.

Parts of it are. Resorts, beach bars and restaurants are close together, but the beach is long, and the heat matters.
